Why volunteer with HWGA?

  • You get to shop early – before the sale is open to the public! The more you volunteer, the earlier you shop! Read more about the different volunteer opportunities below!
  • You are helping Aldersgate give back to the community.
  • Volunteering is fun! This is an opportunity to meet new people, or make a day of it with a friend! Buddy up to volunteer and shop!
  • You do NOT have to be a consignor to volunteer! Come join us!

About volunteer passes…

The Volunteer Pre-sale pass you earn is good for you ONLY. Volunteer shopping times are determined by the option you choose and the number of shifts you work. This is our “thank you” for the work you do and the time you donate. No actual “Pass” is required. Your name will be on a list at the door at the shopping time for which you qualify.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Volunteer tasks are very easy. If you have a disability that might prevent you from performing some tasks, please just let us know. We will accommodate.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Postcard Distributor   Help us get the word out! Sign up online for a “shift.” Once you get an email telling you that the postcards are ready, head to the church to pick them up. You will sign up for a geographical “sector” when you choose your shift. There will be approximately 5-10 pre school/daycare locations assigned to a sector. To simplify things, we will now just have you select a sector from the list as opposed to having people sign up for specific locations.  Click HERE for a PDF of the sectors. Choose the sector that you will distribute to from the “shifts” in the volunteer listings on your account. If you do not see a location listed, please email us with the name of the business and in which approximate zone it would fall. Office hours are from 10:000 am-3:00 pm, M-F . You will receive a list of locations for your sector when you pick up. If you have other ways you would like to help spread the word, just let us know! (See below.)

You Name It If you have a special skill in advertising or PR this is the shift for you. Contact Karen directly and she will arrange for you to assist with a variety of tasks related to promoting the sale. This could include but will not be limited to, flier and postcard distribution, blogging, getting sale sponsors, providing a meal, or assisting with our social media campaign. Hours logged will go toward a pre-sale pass!
